Non-traditional new age and health-based cuisine
With the recent trend towards high end organic restaurants, i.e., DIG (Delray Beach), expectation has increased. Sophie n Me’s online menu is quite impressive. Only problem is that during our visit Friday evening, only a few of the items listed online are actually available at the restaurant. That was a disappointment. Another disappointment was that on a Friday night, the restaurant was empty. Perhaps that was due to the fact that we visited on a holiday weekend. And the third disappointment was portions. For example, ordered salad entree called Mahi-Mahi, and the stated 4 ounces seemed more like 2 ounces. So, if you are looking to make a meal of the salad, don’t.
Entree selection included Jerk Chicken, Shrimp & Grits, Coconut Curry, Vegetable Tofu Stir Fry, and Spaghetti and Turkey Meatballs. That’s it. We tried the Jerk Chicken, and it was quite good, however again, portion was a bit small. By the way, the prices were right up there with the more successful restaurants. Tried the Coconut Curry soup as well, and, it too, was quite small, but very tasty.
I’m glad to see more restaurants in this category, however more means increased competition. Hopefully Sophie n Me will survive. The food preparation and quality is good. My suggestion … increase selection, delivery bigger portions and keep pricing where it is. I’ll be back in 6 months to see if it has improved.
