Pompano Beach, American.
Non-traditional American Food in an Eclectic setting. Menu.
On a Saturday evening, my friend and I visited The Point Cafe in Pompano Beach. Very colorful and different. We had two Greek salads … huge quantity and very tasty for about $9.00 each. With the salads, we shared a gigantic Turkey Saltimbocca Panini sandwich at $8.00. Delicious sandwich comprised of sliced turkey, prosciutto, mozzarella cheese , and pesto. Huge portions, great value. Dessert was an experience … we walked over to their Nitro Yogurt Bar where Santiago blends a wide range of yogurts with toppings, then applies Nitrogen clouds of frost to ice this rather healthy dessert. We shared a coffee peppermint yogurt mixed in with walnuts, crunchees, hot fudge and topped off with whipped cream. To make this fantastic dessert, Santiago sets the stage with music and a light show. Very entertaining, and quite affordable at $5.00
The Point Cafe is owned and operated by a mother/son duo. Both from Brazil. Very friendly & welcoming restaurant. Their menu includes other very affordable items including 1/2 lb burger ($7.00), 1/2 lb smoked burger ($7.50), Philly Steak & Cheese ($8.50), basket of a pound of fried shrimp ($15.00), or Coconut Shrimp for (10.00). I saw the burgers, and they are huge and those that I asked said they were yummy. Aside from the Panini we shared, they are also known for their Caprese ($6.50), Prosciutto Caprese ($8.00). In addition to the Greek Salad, they also feature Tuna Salad ($8.00), Turkey Salad ($9.00), and an Asian Chicken Salad ($9.00). Their wine selection is not as impressive. Wines from Uruguay are $5.00 per glass. Chardonnay is okay, but that’s about it. One of the regulars said that they usually serve a Merlot that is very good, however they ran out on the day we were there.
